Blaenau Gwent is fortunate in having five independent community museums with wide-ranging collections of artefacts, photographs, documents and publications. These collections range from prehistoric and Roman artefacts to photographs and objects that reflect the important role that Blaenau Gwent played in the Industrial Revolution and in the development of coal, iron and steel.
All of these museums are run entirely by unpaid volunteers. These dedicated people provide visitors with a warm welcome, local knowledge and expertise. They also provide their local communities with access to their own history and a sense of pride in the achievements of their ancestors.
